My grandfather recalls "stealing" my grandmother at 17 yrs old. I remember asking my grandmother, "why didn't you run away?" and she replied, "I wanted to stay". Maybe kidnapping someone back then was more romantic than it is now. As we got the boys ready for the event, Max fell asleep just as I was putting his last shoe on. So Ed and Eli attend the ceromony. I sat there staring at Max, thinking of my own wedding and how Ed had proposed to me and ask the parents for my hand in marriage. Then I wondered, what if my dad would have said, "No." Would I have run away with him. Sure I was older than my grandma, I was 20 and living independently. I remember when my uncle Rigo said he was going on 10 yrs when I got married and my parents were going on almost 25 yrs... It's amazing how magical it is to grow old with someone. My grandpa once said, "Getting married was easy, it's staying married and staying in love thats hard".
