Week 16: School Days are Here! 9-22-07

The experts write, “Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast, and there's no beast more savage than a cranky baby. Children of all ages are quieted by music, and studies show that babies who are sung to early in their lives tend to speak and read slightly earlier than others. In addition to singing, musical mobiles and music boxes provide endless fascination for babies at this stage.
For a wonderful game, combine listening to musical sounds--such as a ringing bell, piano, or chiming clock--with trying to imitate them. Show baby how to turn the bell or hit different keys to produce different tones. Some babies are acoustically sensitive, and can imitate sounds with nearly perfect pitch. This combination of sensitivity and tone production is the foundation of good musicianship, so be sure to encourage your little Mozart if he has it.”
I play the same music for them in the morning (almost) everyday and the same music for them as they are starting to dose off. I must admit, I usually dose off before them, even without music, I win the snooze contest hands down! The classical music helps to settle them down and it is a familiar sound they enjoy hearing.
The babies and Liz went to school this week. Class was so much fun! I must admit I enjoy the attention that we received since my babies are twins and the youngest in class. Nearly everyone came up to hold the babies and asked me the usual twin FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions): Do they play together? Do they know they are twins? Did you know you were having twins? I can’t imagine having two, How do you do it? The last question is weird for me since I can’t imagine only having one. Although it’s less then for months, I feel like they have been apart of my life forever! I’ve learned to adapt to caring for two. If both are hungry, I feed both babies at the same time.
We made plenty of friends and I even found out about a Monday Movie with Baby events. This is where they show current released movies with the lights slightly on and a changing table right there inside the movie theater. How cool is that! Now I will be able to continue my Movie watching hobby with my babies!
