The experts write: Repetition -- the kind found in a nap routine, a nursery rhyme, a board book, or a walk -- is very appealing to babies, as they master skills like rolling, babbling, and grasping. Routines serve as an early introduction to rules, limits, and expectations, while changes teach flexibility and present opportunities to grow and be adventurous.
I write: Eddie is an on time- always orders the same food- doesn’t like change- kind of person. Liz is more of a go with the flow- in the moment- nothing is ever done twice- kind of person. Since Liz is home with the babies during the day, she lets them sleep and eat at their own pace. The doctor calls it, “On Demand Method.” They don’t eat every three hours or sleep 3 times a day for 30 minutes. It’s more like, they get hungry, and we feed them. They get sleepy, they sleep. It is less stressful than having to be home at a certain time do things in a special order. They have adjusted to sleeping on the sofa, car seat, and yoga mat. Thank goodness they are slightly heavy sleepers (they got that from Liz’s side of the family). They can sleep at restaurants, with the television on, and at other peoples’ home. They usually spend Saturday nights at their grandparents Petra and Gerardo’s home, so it’s like a second home to them. If we are visiting Liz’s grandparents’ home, somewhere they do not visit too often, they sleep their too.
They have started to eat more solids. They eat teaspoons of (mashed) beans, rice, carrots, squash, and liquefied chicken soup. Their poop is stinking to high heaven. Yikes!
Both babies are spending more time on their tummies and do swim-like motions. They are able to sit up better and keep their heads up without any difficulty. They enjoy nature walks/strolls and window shopping at Target. They enjoy when the ball rolls toward them and they push it away. It is so much fun being able to play with them!
