On Monday, Grandma Petra had surgery. So Grandpa Gerardo, Auntie Carmen, the babies and I were in the waiting area. The boys received a ton of attention! “They are so cute!!” My dad would then reply about how he was the oldest and between him and his sister there were a few sets of male twins. We would then get the usual shock out of people, “How many sets?” I usually say 4 sets since that sounds more dramatic (in reality my grandma Maria had 3 sets- which is still unbelievable!) At times, I go as far to say that she had them at her home with the help of an old blind lady with no doctor and medical staff around. Since I enjoy spontaneous story telling, almost every conversation with strangers differs. Although as the months are rolling by, my story is almost as short and boring as Eddie’s version, “Twins run in both sides of the family” and then walk away (quickly).
Both babies are now playing with different types of toys. They enjoy musical instruments and bouncy balls as well as books. At the hospital grandpa was giving them airplane “take-off” rides, from grandpa’s lap the babies would jet set to over grandpa’s face to above stretch shoulders. On one of the “airplane landings” Eli grabbed grandpa’s glasses and started to misshapen them. Grandpa tried prying his tiny hands open and a tug-of-war broke about between infant and elderly. It was a lose-lose situation, Eli lost his new toy, and grandpa will need another set of glasses! Both babies are capable of grabbing their bottles, although they do not always choose to hold it. If one baby is drinking, the other baby tries to push the bottle away!
Ed is taking care of the babies this week since I caught an eye infection. He has been driving them around town and has them outside helping him with the Christmas pre-decoration electrical stuff.
