On Monday, Lourdes came to take care of the babies. She will be helping to watch them while I start going to the office. Our babies are not scared or timid in meeting new people. Max usually flashes his flirty smile at strangers to get them to “ooh and ahh” over him. Eli is more reserved for about a minute or two. But once he gets your trust, it’s all smile and grunts from him.
Tuesday, Eli smacked his tongue making a clacking kissing sound. Eddie repeated the sound and Eli responded by repeating the sound over and over. Eli is also blowing lots of bubbles the way Max was doing a few weeks ago. As Eli began to dose off, he crawled to max and hugged him. Both babies fell asleep holding each other. It was so cool to see how affectionate they are to one another.
On Thursday, they had a car speed race in our living room! Max and Eli burned rubber while the honked the horn and checked themselves out in the side mirror. They’ve owned these cars since they were three months old. This was the first time they were actually in them instead of using them as cozy sleeping pillows. The babies are so big, you can see Eli’s feet sticking out the bottom of the car! The boys had also started Parenting the Infant class today. Max was playing with toys and having a ton fun. I place Sergio on the floor near Max and he began to cry. I picked him up and placed him in his car seat with his bottle. Once he settled down, I placed him on my lap next to Max. As he began to feel secured, I placed him on the floor so he could play too. We painted their feet white so we could create snow-babies. This project was a little messy but a lot of fun!
Both babies are forward crawling. It is easy for them to glide around on wood floors. They remind me of baby seals. Lourdes, the nanny, is reading to them in Spanish and I am reading to them in English. It is a little difficult to read to the babies while they are sitting next to me because the try and grab the pages from me. So I give each baby his own book. It’s a soft plastic book that holds pictures of the family singing. This way, they are “reading” along with me.
