The boys are starting to wear shoes since they are taking a few steps on thier own. They are not used to wearing shoes or for that matter socks. So "hi five" them for leaving them on and not tossing them out the window while i'm driving!
This week, Phil took a couple of days off to be this Carmen. I still called every hour or so just to make sure she was doing ok. Since Carmen didn't need me this week, so I proceeded with my week plans. I've decided to make plans and actually try and accomplish them.
On Tuesday, we went to the Orange County Fair "Say Cheese." We love the fair and took the boys last year. While we usually hang out at the Farm Area and the Ralph Vineyard section, this year we actually walked the whole thing- all the way to the pig racing section (we didn't get to see them race). It was hot, but we managed to run from tree shade to tent shade and find air conditioned buildings with display hammocks to lounge on. My video camera stopped working while at the fair.
Wednesday, we went to a moms club "Meet New Members" Party. The boys were ready for the baby pool. It was kind of like the one Carmen and Phil gave them. As they played the ants came out and crawled all over Max. I ran to him and brushed them off. I sprayed him with the sunblock spray and the ants slided off and hopefully died. (While I love insects and am all for nature- I won't hesitate killing them if they enter my home or mess with my kids!) I changed them back to their clothes had some ice pops and then left to get ready for lunch. I saw one of the moms from my parenting class there. The boys and I "busted a mission" to South Coast Plaza during traffic hour to buy a new battery for my video camera. Fortunately the battery was fine, it was camera that is having the malfunction. Since they don't fix the camera at that shop, I'm going to have to mail it to San Diego. What a bummer! Luckily I made it back just in time to go to the Farmers Market with Ed. Since it was almost closing, we purchased our Greek food, a few fruits and returned home.
Thursday, the boys and I walked to Ralphs. As I crossed the main street, the front tire of my jogging stroller became very wobbly. While shopping for food, I saw Bill, my mom's former co-worker. He was there with his daghter Cris and her little girl who's just a few months younger than my boys. Cris and I hit it off and chatted for nearly an hour. We exchange numbers are planning on some play dates. As I was paying for our groceries, a staff member gave each of the boys a balloon. They pulled on the string until they reached the balloon and then with excitement would release the balloon and it would drift away. This small gesture entertained my boys until late in the afternoon. They even ate lunch with thier balloons. As soon as Eddie came home, they forgot about their hellium friends so I stabbed them, cut them into small pieces so they biodegrade faster and I kept the string for my scrapbook pages of them with the balloons.
On Friday, we went to visit grandpa and gradma Castillo. Carmen and Phil showed up with Tri. We ate dinner together and chatted up old memories of having babies.
Saturday was Carmen's D-day! Since my parents were all day with Carmen, Ed went to work and I stayed at home with the boys awaiting news of her progress. By the time Ed came home, I was so excited to go see her, we all went together. Ed and the boys waited in the waiting room as I watched Carmen watching tv. Nothing big and exciting was happening. Since the nurses were going to check Carmen's status, I exited the room to see what my munchkins were up too. They were pacing back and forth and all around with thier grandparents. Eli and Max get too spoiled with grandpa. After a lot of protests from the baby brats, we tied them into thier seats and we went home to wait for Bryant's arrival.
ps: i was going to post a picture of Bryant, but since he was born on Sunday, i'm going to post it next week. I'll give you a hint: he's so cute!!!
