As the boys get older, I'm noticing that they are copying what we do. For a few months already they pretend to talk on the phone or pretend to be driving as we push them around in their stroller. But this week, Eli grabbed my pen and calender book and began to "write notes." He looked at me and as he was babbling, we wrote imainary words with my closed pen. Then Max flipped through my calender as if checking to make sure Eli wrote everything important down.
In the mornings they find my Bon Apetit magazine and "read" to me articles about trendiest cafes and up coming chefs. We have Dr. Seuss books near our bed so that they can "read" those, however my newest magazine always seems to be more interesting to them.
They prefer to play with real household item then just regular toys. I have a pastry brush, wooden spoons and plastic containers (that have lost thier lids) that the boys use to play with. They are learning to scoop things up. Max used this new skill at the park with his bucket and shovel.
The boys and I invited Val and Peanut to join us at the History Musuem. We gazed at all the stuffed animals and explored the new Tommy the T-Rex exibit.
I hosted a Mom's Club Craft Day where we made casts of our children's hands or feet. Carmen and Bryant joined us at the park. Since Bryant is too little to imprint his foot on sand, we inked his foot and stamped it on paper.
Saturday, the boys and I went to Julia's birthday which was on the same block as great-grandma Carmen's house. She came to the party, but then asked me to go with her to the Los Amigos Mall (swapmeet). While we waited for grandma's jewerly to be cleaned, we strolled around the mall. Grandma treated the boys to a dino ride which they enjoyed! Afterward, we drove to La Mirada for Ty's birthday. We arrived kinda late so we dropped off our gift and chatted for a short while, then drove home.
