You can only get away with eating fried snacks like Twinkies and snickers and corn dipped in chocolate or bacon at the FAIR!!! It's been a family tradition for Ed and I since our b.c. (before children) times!!! And while Ed has no problem popping fried snapping turtle in his mouth, he did hesitate to eat the chocolate covered bacon.
We arrived Sunday mid-morning to be the first in line... however over 400 people also knew it was a dollar entrance and arrived before us. By 5pm the crowds had dwindled and the sun was softening out its rays which gave way to cool breezes and lots of shade. The boys and Natalie (Ed's little sister) rode on several rides and then raced through a hay maze. They also learned about churning butter from fresh milk and making cheese out of yogurt. Natalie learned about how circuits connect from a radio exhibitor.
We ate the famous smoked turkey legs, grilled corn, popcorn, and yes... even chocolate dipped bacon!!!
