Week 8: Staying Awake More! 7-28-07

Studies say, "As your baby passes the two-month mark, they are gaining coordination and learning to control their muscles; newborn reflexes like the Moro (startle) reflex are being replaced by voluntary actions. As a result, they may appear to move less, but this is only because movements are smaller and more controlled." I have noticed they don't seem so "jumpy." Usually when I reach for them or they get hungry or I talk to them, their arms wave around like Sesame Street Muppets. This past week has been more tiresome.

Both babies seem to enjoy staying awake more… at night. As a result, we sleep less. They also don’t want to be lying down or snuggled up in their blanket. It’s very hard for one of us to be carrying two 10+ pound babies at the same time. Usually I prop them up against the sofa or bed and it keeps the amused for a while. They also enjoy flashing their smiles a lot!!
